Brief Note on Web Development
Static web sites are a thing of the past. Dynamic sites that use include
files and server side scripting and are carefully thought out and designed are easier
to update. Content is everything on the web. No one's going to revisit a site if its
content isn't updated. On the internet, a week is too long and a month is forever.
It isn't enough anymore to just know how to code html pages - site design, scalability,
and functionality are important considerations when planning out a site. Learn how to
do this and the skills it takes to make it happen and you'll be a much more desirable
web developer.
Welcome
Welcome to hardcoder.com. This site has just been revamped and still
has a long way to go before its sections will be fully populated. This
site, as all web sites should be, will be an ongoing project. I've kept the site pretty simple
to promote ease of use. Being the only one working on the site right now,
it's difficult to find the time to do everything with it that I want to.
Intended Audience & Site Content
This site is meant for both beginners and established web developers alike.
There are several sections that go over the basics of various web
development topics: HTML,
layout, tables,
forms,
graphics,
web
colors, etc. And there are also many other topics as well.
The CSS,
DHTML,
Scripting (which currently includes some PHP info, but
will include Javascript, VBScript, ASP, and some Perl and shell scripting in the future) sections do not
offer comprehensive coverage of these topics, but instead explain some of the basics, show you
some practical examples, and will include links to sites where you can develop additional skills.
